REGISTRATION INFORMATION for SPRING 2011

Registration is open to all including Western Springs, Hinsdale, Lagrange, LagrangePark, Countryside, Riverside, Brookfield, North Riverside, Clarendon Hills, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook and surrounding areas.

Boys 1st/2nd and girls 1st thru 8th need only the registration form.

Boys house league 3rd thru 8th need registration form, player & parent committment form, volunteer form.

Boys travel league 2nd thru 8th need Registration form, medical waiver, player & parent commitment contract, volunteer form  and travel uniform size form

All registrations can be returned to the Western Springs Recreation Center, 1500 Walker St, WS 60558 or fax to 708-246-1309.Check should be made payable to Western Springs Recreation Department.

TRAVEL LEAGUE FOR BOYS in Grades 3 to 8 Designed for the more competitive lacrosse player.  ** New this year 3rd/4th grade travel** 

  • Practices for boys 7/8th grade for Jan 22nd & 29th are from 12:30 - 2:30pm and on Feb 5th from 12:30 - 3:30pm at Darien Sportsplex. 5/6th grade - Jan22nd and Jan 29th will be from 2:30 - 4:30pm and Feb 5th from 3:30 - 6:30pm. Each child will receive a numbered pinny. Coaches will be evaluating kids on Jan 22nd & Jan 29th and the formal evaluation tryout will be on Feb 5th. After the evaluation tryouts, teams will be determined. 3rd/4th grade practice will begin on Feb 5th from 4pm - 6pm at Lyons Township South Campus field house. Equipment Rental will be given out on Feb 5th.  2 Checks should be made out to True Lacrosse. One for $65.00 and one for $200.00. Check for $200.00 will not be cashed. This check is held in case equipment is lost or not returned. Return date will be last day of lacrosse.
  • Practices time for Feb 12th to be determined.
  • Commitment to lacrosse program a must
  • Practices begins outdoors in April at Spring Rock Park (days and times to be determined by coaches)
  • Games on Saturdays (and some week days) beginning in mid April through mid June. Schedules will be posted in March. There will be 10-14 home/away games for 5th – 8th graders and 6-8 games for 3rd and 4th graders in the Chicago suburban area.
  • 2 out of state tournaments for 5th – 8th graders (extra $$$ for travel and hotel stay)
  • Tournament hosted by Western Springs at Lyons Township High School in June
  • Playoffs for top league teams.
  • All 3rd and 4th grade teams, 5th and 6th A and B teams and 7th and 8th B teams are automatically enrolled in our house league. NOTE: Price shown for travel league includes both house and travel league. 
  • Any registrations after March 1st will incur a $25.00 late fee and an automatic volunteer buyout of $25.00 for a total of $50.00.

INTRO LEAGUE BOYS & GIRLS 1st/2nd

·        Registration requires a separate registration form returned to Western Springs Rec Department after Jan 3rd, 2011.

·        All instruction on Sundays, April 10th – June 12th from 1pm – 2:30pm @ Spring Rock Park. (no class April 24th or Memorial Day weekend)

·        Jersey distribution first day of practice

HOUSE LEAGUE FOR BOYS in Grades 3 – 8 Not ready for the travel league or just want to stay close to home?  

  Practices for 5th – 8th are on Thursdays from 6pm – 7:30pm starting April 7th ending May 26th. Sunday, April 10th is a practice.

 Games for 5th thru 8th are on Sundays between 12pm – 6pm starting April 17th and ending June 12th (no game on April 24th or Memorial Day weekend).

· Practices for 3rd/4th will be for 1.5 hours (day & time tbd) starting week of  4-4-11. Last practice week of May 23rd.

Games for 3rd/4th start April 17th (tentative)

Any registrations after April 1st will incur a $25.00 late fee and an automatic volunteer buyout of $25.00 for a total of $50.00.

GIRLS HOUSE LEAGUE   3rd thru 8th Grade

·         Games on Sunday between 1:00 – 3:00pm @ Katherine Legge Memorial Park
·         Practices on Friday starting April 22nd at Springrock Park from 6:00 – 7:30pm Schedules, rosters and weather cancellations will be posted by Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association  (IGLA) on  www.iglax.org
·         Required equipment for girls – Lacrosse stick, mouth guard, protective eye wear and soccer cleats or tennis shoes.

IMPORTANT: Coaches are needed for all boys and girls house and travel leagues. Volunteer Coaches are needed!! No experience necessary.  Newcomers encouraged!!!  Don’t be intimidated—WILL TRAIN!!!  Coaching Clinic provided.  Get information and sign up at registration or contact Pam Florczak at pflorczak@wsprings.com , call 708-246-6725. if interested in being a coach.

EQUIPMENT

Lacrosse Equipment required for boys: Lacrosse stick, mouthpiece, lacrosse or hockey helmet with face guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, soccer or football cleats and cup.

This is a parent/volunteer run program that depends heavily upon your involvement. All families are expected to participate as volunteers. There are many volunteer opportunities that are available and sign-up is available on Registration Days. Click here for a list of volunteer positions. If you choose not to sign up to volunteer, the buyout is $25.00.

2011 Sponsorship information.

This year we are extending our sponsorship program to interested families and businesses. Our hope is to defray some of the costs of the upcoming 5th Annual Western Springs Tower Tournament taking place June 4, 2011. The donations would help pay for the coach's apparel, s, field equipment, referees, and trophies and the future growth of the Western Springs Travel program.

There are 3 levels of participation offered. Each level provides the sponsor with more opportunity to have their businesses merchandised through commemorative tournament t-shirts, field signage, booths and a website link.
